Cause and Effect

Yesterday we learned about cause and effect.  First we watched a short clip that showed that when it rains it causes the effect of getting wet.

Then we read The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash. We looked and listened for causes and effects and then pinned them up on our wash line.

Today we read Animal Park. We read it a second time with a partner and then found causes to some of the effects found in the story.

Our crazy elf!

Shubert is a STAR

Today we got together with Mrs. Lessard's class to learn some additional ways to calm down. This coincides with our second step social skills program.

We read Shubert is a STAR.

We learned how Shubert used 3 different strategies when he got upset.

1. The balloon... pictured above.
2.  The drain
3.  STAR...Stop Take a breath And Relax

We brainstormed when we could use these strategies...

Then we thought about a time we needed to calm down and chose one of the strategies we would have used.

Last, we shared and demonstrated our strategy.

Before All The Turkey!

We learned about the flu and how to stay healthy from Mrs. Kozak, the elementary nurse.

In science we are investigating what happens when solids are mixed with liquids. We also separated our solids and liquids through evaporation.

Mr Unrath was our Mystery Reader. He read The Book with No Pictures. It was so funny!

In math we used dominoes to make addition problems.

Matter, Turkeys, and Cowboys, Oh My!

Shopping at the Book Fair!

In science we learned about solids liquids and gases.
First we were liquid particles...they move close together and slowly.

Then we were solid particles...they don't move and are very close together.

Last we were gas particles. They move very fast and far apart.

Howdy Partner!!!  Western day at school!

In weiting we explored our five senses using our magic cameras. Students focused on creating detailed sentences from sentence starters verbally.
